Purpose:
Bilateral Sclero-Keratoplasty in Peripheral Ulcerative Keratitis in pregnant female
Setting:
A.I.I.M.S, NEW DELHI
Methods:
24-year-old pregnant female with bilateral peripheral ulcerative keratitis planned for sclerokeratoplasty under general anaesthesia. Intravenous steroid injections were given for foetal lung maturity. Sclerokeratoplasty was done in both the eyes in the same setting with optical grade tissues from a single donor.
Results:
The patient followed up after childbirth with uncorrected visual acuity in both the eyes of 6/18 and intraocular pressure within normal limits
Conclusions:
Bilateral sclerokeratoplasty with the same donor decreases antigenic load in the patient
