Purpose:
This case report presents possibility for solving postoperative refractive error after cataract surgery in patient, who underwent laser myopic surgery ten years earlier and has thin cornea.
Setting:
Gemini Eye Clinic Prague, Czech Republic
Methods:
A 46-year-old man come to our clinic to solve his refractive error after cataract surgery. In 2006, he underwent myopic PRK in both eyes. In 2016, he underwent cataract surgery on dominant right eye. Postoperative result was minus 2dpt., but he was not satisfied and did not want to wear eyeglasses. He had very thin cornea (420um), that‘s why we decided to implant add-on IOL (Sulcoflex) to ciliary sulcus.
Results:
His UCVA OD was 0,2, BCVA OD 1,0 with minus 2,0dpt. Surgery was uncomplicated with monofocal aspheric Sulcoflex IOL implantation in 2016. One month after surgery UCVA OD was 1,0. In February 2020 was performed Nd:YAG capsulotomy on right eye.
Conclusions:
Implantation add-on IOLs in ciliary sulcus is an option, especially in patient with very thin corneas, how to solve postoperative refractive error after cataract surgery. Good postoperative result and long term stability without iritation or dislocation of add-on Sulcoflex IOL shows our case.
