Abstract Details
Purpose:
To evaluate the clinical effectiveness and features of using a 3D visualization system with navigation support in lens surgery.
Setting:
1"Ophthalmic clinic "Eye Surgery", 2Department of eye diseases, Institute of the Samara state medical University of Russia, Samara
Methods:
Clinical results of using the 3D visualization system "NGENUITY" using the navigation system "VERION" in lens surgery in 2142 patients (3248 eyes) aged 51.2±4.1 years are presented. Monofocal, multifocal, toric, and multifocal toric IOLs from Alcon were implanted with a target refraction of Em±0.5 DPTR using the VERION diagnostic navigation system.
Results:
There were no intraoperative or postoperative complications. The postoperative period proceeded smoothly, without injections. Patients were examined on days 1 and 7 and 1, 3 and 6 months after surgery. The spheroequivalent of clinical refraction was -0.25±0.29 DPTR. Target refraction (Em±0.5 DPTR) was achieved in 94% of patients. In all patients, the obtained refractive effect almost coincided with the potentially expected one. All patients are satisfied with the results of the operation and the choice of intraocular lens. The results of using the 3D visualization system "NGENUITY" with navigation support "VERION" in lens surgery suggest that it has a number of significant advantages compared to the use of traditional ocular methods of modern microsurgery.
Conclusions:
1. 3D navigation lens surgery is not difficult to master;
2. Diagnostic analytical module "VERION Reference Unit" allows you to accurately select the optical strength of the IOL and its toric component with the preparation of an individual operation plan for each patient.
3. The 3D navigation system "VERION Digital Marker Microscope" allows you to perform high-tech lens surgery according to the developed operation plan.
4. Practical development and further technological development of 3D navigation surgery opens up new scientific and practical perspectives in lens surgery.
