Abstract Details
Purpose:
To report clinical case about patient was taken extensive DMD in early post-op period of cataract surgery
Setting:
Cataract Surgery Department, Eye Clinic “Sokol”, Rostov-on-Don, Russia
Methods:
Immature cataract removal by phacoemulsification with implantation of multifocal IOL. The procedure performance was uneventful. The corneal tunnel was of a standard size of 2.2 mm. In early postoperative period was defined signs of moderate descemetitis. Several days later the patient complained of photophobia, irritation, severe pain in the eyeball. Also, she noticed a rapid decrease of her BCVA from 20/30 down to 20/400 and simultaneous visualizing deterioration of descemetitis. Wide DMD was detected using corneal OCT and bubbling was performed immediately after the detection.
Results:
UVCA was 20/30 on the next day, increase and stabilized up to 20/25 in 2 weeks. Complains and inflammation symptoms are absent.
Conclusions:
Given by report is important to take into account potential extensive Descemet membrane detachment even after non-complicated cataract surgery. (That required prompt management.)
