Abstract Details
Purpose:
To evaluate the visual performance after bilateral implantation of a non-diffractive extended depth of focus intraocular lens (IOL) with wavefront-shaping technology.
Setting:
DESIGN: Prospective single-arm study.
Setting:
Department of Ophthalmology, Goethe University, Frankfurt, Germany.
Methods:
Patients who received bilateral implantation of Extended-Depth-of-Focus IOL Vivity (AcrySof® IQ Vivity™ IOL, Alcon Research, Fort Worth, TX, USA) pre-enrollment. Exclusion criteria were previous ocular surgeries excluding cataract surgery and refractive lens exchange and ocular pathologies or corneal abnormalities. 3 months postoperative examination included manifest refraction; monocular and binocular uncorrected (UCVA) and distance-corrected (DCVA) visual acuity in 4 m, 80 cm, 60cm and 40 cm; slit-lamp examination. 3 months postoperatively monocular and binocular defocus testing, binocular contrast sensitivity (CS) under photopic and mesopic conditions, and a questionnaire on subjective quality of vision, optical phenomena, and spectacle independence were performed.
Results:
First clinical results show 0.0 logMAR in far distance, 0.0 logMAR in 80 cm and 0.1 logMAR in 60 cm distance and near visual acuity of 0.3 logMAR. The patient reports no optical phenomena in daily live activities. The patient is very satisfied.
Conclusions:
First results show excellent visual acuity in far and intermediate distance without optical phenomena. At the congress we will present our results of the first 30 eyes after 3 months.
