Abstract Details

Purpose:

To show the evoluation of Practice Styles and Preferences of Dutch Cataract and Refractive Surgeons

Setting:

Dutch domestic nationwide Survey of all Cataract and Refractive Surgeons

Methods:

A questionaire was sent to all registered Cataract and Refractive Surgeons in the Netherlands

Results:

Cataract Surgical Rate(CSR) of 11.000 . Stable number of Cataract surgeries per surgeon. FLACS (Femto cataract surgery) still very low numbers.Slight increase in Retrobulbar and Subtenon and decrease of Topical anesthesia . Use of Multifocal IOL (2%) ,Toric (4%) and Multifocal Toric (2%) stable. Dropped nucleus and Endophthalmitis rates low and stable. Cefuroxime use routinely in 80% and 15% only in high risk patients. PRK , LASIK and PIOL numbers stable and RLE increasing.

Conclusions:

Valuable information on trends in Cataract and Refractive Surgery over the last 22 years is presented.
