Abstract Details
Purpose:
To report three years outcomes of accelerated epithelium-off corneal cross-linking for a case of superior keratoconus
Setting:
Sohag Center for Femtolasik and Corneal Surgeries
Report of Case:
26-year-old male with both eyes diagnosed as Grade 1 Keratoconus with superior cone diagnosed by Sirius Scheimpflug corneal topography. The uncorrected visual acuity (UCVA) in the right eye (RE) was 0.1 in decimal corrected to 0.4 by a refraction of -1.00Ds –3.5 0Dc @107, while the UCVA in the left eye (LE) was 0.01 in decimal corrected to 0.3 by a refraction of +2.00 Ds -5.50Dc @31. Accelerated epithelium-off corneal cross-linking by (Avedro, USA) was done for both eyes in 2 separate sessions. The patient was followed up for 3 years with improvement of visual acuity as regards UCVA and BCVA and improvement of corneal topographic parameters including keratometry and front and back elevations
Conclusion/Take Home Message:
Accelerated epithelium-off corneal cross-linking is an effective method in prevention of progression and even improvement of Keratoconus with superior cone location as proved by this long term follow up.
