Abstract Details
Purpose:
To present the long-term results of combined topography guided phototherapeutic keratectomy (topo-guided PTK) in a keratoconic patient followed simultaneously by corneal collagen cross linking (CXL) for the management of progressive keratoconus.
Setting:
EyeDayClinic, Athens, Greece
Report of Case:
Visual and refractive outcome of a patient with progressive keratoconus, who underwent simultaneous topo-guided Phototherapeutic Keratectomy (PTK), combined with Corneal Collagen Cross-Linking (CXL). Wavefront-technology soft contact lenses were used one year post operatively. The patient was evaluated preoperatively, 1 month, 6, and one year post-operatively. No intraoperative or postoperative complications were occurred.
Conclusion/Take Home Message:
One year following the operation and the application of soft contact lenses, K values were decreased from K1: 45.2D, K2: 48.3D to K1: 45D K2: 46.4D and Best Corrected Visual Acuity (BCVA) was improved from -8.25Dsph -4.25D cylinder at 50 degrees: 4/10 to -5.50Dsph -1.50D cylinder at 97 degrees: 9/10 for the RE and from -8.00Dsph -1.25D cylinder at 120 degrees: 6/10 to -7.00Dsph -1.75D cylinder at 65 degrees: 9/10 for the LE.
