Abstract Details
Purpose:
In this case report we show the 6 years follow-up of a young patient with high myopia, astigmatism and keratoconus.
We explain our surgical decision on the evidence of the clinical datas
Setting:
 CAMO in Milan
Report of Case:
In this young patient we first performed a cross linking in both eyes in order to give stability to the cornea and reduce the progression of the ectasia.
After two years the left eye showed a steepening in K readings and an increase in posterior elevation. Thus we decided to implant in this eye two intracorneal rings to reshape the cornea and give a better visual acuity.
Three years later, gained a stable topography and refraction, we decided to implant a toric phakic IOL in both eyes.
Conclusion/Take Home Message:
Correction of high myopia and astigmatism in keratoconus is possible but requires an adequate follow-up and an accurate interpretation of clinical datas
