Abstract Details
Purpose:
To present the surgical value of femtosecond laser in the management of anterior capsular contraction syndrome in Pseudoexfoliation patient.
Setting:
Clínica y cirugía de ojos Larcovisión, Quito-Ecuador
Report of Case:
A 63 years-old male developed severe fibrosis, capsular contraction syndrome and intraocular lens (IOL) dislocation in one eye two months posterior to an uneventful femtolaser cataract surgery (FLACS). Due to risk of complications, capsulotomy was enlarged with femtosecond laser surgery, postoperative corrected distance visual acuity of 20/25 was accomplished.
Conclusion/Take Home Message:
Femtosecond laser is a safe and effective alternative to Nd: YAG laser capsulotomy and manual extension of capsulorhexis to treat capsular contraction syndrome in patients with zonular weakness or IOL dislocation.
