Abstract Details
Purpose:
To evaluate the functional outcome after implantation of a new aspheric intraocular lens (IOL) with a novel platform design, special surface properties and its application through an enhanced injector with balanced salt solution (BSS) only, to provide better intraocular stability.

Methods:
Examinations three months after surgery included manifest refraction, UDVA, and CDVA [logMAR] as well as usability of the enhanced injector during implantation. All IOLs were implanted through a 2.2mm incision using docking technique with the irrigation handpiece for constant BSS infusion during implantation.
Results:
Mean UDVA increased from 0,5 to 0,2 logMAR 3 months postoperatively. Mean CDVA was 0,0 logMAR postoperatively. The injector was very easy to handle. Because of the enhanced injector design there was no tip blooming effect of the silicon cushion.
Conclusions:
The new aspheric hydrophobic IOL shows a very good centration and is very easy to implant. Postoperative refraction is stable with a high amount of patient satisfaction
