Abstract Details

Purpose:

To establish the feasibility and safety of phacoemulsification and IOL implantation through an unique 1.8 or 1.6 mm incision located at the superior corneo limbus.

Setting:

2 surgeons CT and HR performed 50 cataract surgery with Visalis V500 ( Zeiss) and OPMI Lumera 700 in MV Vision ( Genève and La Chaux de Fond). CT Asphina 509MP (Zeiss) IOL were implanted with Accuject PRO 1.6 ( Zeiss).

Methods:

A prospective consecutive serie of 50 eyes underwent cataract (grading 1-3) surgery during 2016. Patients were then followed-up at Day 1, Day 3, Week 1 to 4. Central Corneal Thickness was measured and refractometer values and their reliability index were also reported.

Results:

No complications were observed during the procedure except for minimal sub-conjunctival haemorrages. The refractometer values were constant and reliable within 2 weeks after surgery. The mean thickness of the cornea increased up to 15% and then the corneal thickness was back to baseline within 2 weeks.

Conclusions:

And Unique Corneo 1.8m incision allows phacoemulsification, capsulorhexis and IOL implantation without any further enlargement of the incision. And Unique limbal 1.6mm incision give better results. Furthermore, both pachymetry and refractometer valus showed an early corneal recovery and fast visual rehabilitation.
