The visual functions after Nd:YAG laser posterior capsulotomy in patients with WIOL-CF® polyfocal full-optics intraocular lens

Abstract Details
Purpose:
To investigate the correlation between visual acuity, contrast sensitivity, AS – OCT, WASCA and the degree of posterior capsule opacification (PCO) before and after neodymium:yttrium-aluminum-garnet (Nd:YAG) laser posterior capsulotomy in patiensts after implantation polyfocal full-optics intraocular lens (IOL).
Setting:
Retrospective case series.

Methods:
2 patients ( 3 pseudophakic eyes) scheduled to undergo Nd:YAG laser capsulotomy were recruited. Visual acuity and contrast sensitivity , AS- OCT, WASCA were measured before and after Nd:YAG laser capsulotomy.
Results:
Before Nd:YAG laser capsulotomy, correlation existed between the PCO value and visual acuity Contrast sensitivity (CS) were also weakly correlated with the PCO value, but the correlation coefficients were smaller than that of visual acuity. After Nd:YAG laser capsulotomy, UDVA averaged 0,2 logMar to 0,0 logMar ,UCIVA improved from J5 to J3 and UNVA from J3 to J2. Contrast sensitivity was increased in all spatial frequencies ( 3.0; 6.0 ;12.0 ;18.0 cpd ) , without statistically significant difference . All visual angles improved .
Conclusions:
Before Nd:YAG laser capsulotomy, visual functions correlated significantly with the degree of PCO. After capsulotomy, the visual functions improved, . Decentration of the lenses WIOL-CF was not observed. The procedure was safe and without complications.
