Abstract Details

Purpose:

Evaluation of MIOLs with near-addition of 2.0 dpt or 3.0 dpt in the asymmetric inferior IOL-segment. Retrospective study after planed cataract/clear lens surgery of post op bilateral visual acuity for far, intermediate and near, photic phenomena and patient satisfaction.

Setting:

VallmedicVision Andorra

Methods:

31 patients received bilateral cataract/clear lens surgery with implantation of MIOL MPlus LS 313 MF20 in the dominant eye and MIOL MPlus LS 313 MF30 in the non-dominant eye. Age range was 48 – 83 years, 21 patients with a pre-op hyperopic refraction, 10 patients with a pre-op myopic refraction.

Results:

Bilateral CDVA pre-op 0,83 (mean) improved to bilateral UDVA of 0,94 at 1 month post-op (mean). Bilateral UIMVA 1 month post op was 0,94 (mean), bilateral UNVA 0,96 (mean). Less than 10% of patients reported optical phenomena like halos and glare 6 months after surgery, no patient complained about limitations of necessary activities. At 1 month post-op all patients have been practically spectacle independent with only 12 % of patients using an additional help for very small print.

Conclusions:

All patients showed very good uncorrected visual acuity for distance, intermediate and near. Patient satisfaction was very high, optical side were very minor permitting an easy patient selection for this blended vision strategy.
