Abstract Details

Purpose:

To show the evolution of Practice Styles and Preferences of Dutch Cataract and Refractive Surgeons over the last 19 years

Setting:

Dutch domestic nationwide survey of all Cataract and Refractive surgeons

Methods:

A written questionaire was sent to all registered Cataract and Refractive surgeons in the Netherlands

Results:

increasing number of Cataract surgeries per surgeon.Flacs number still low.Topical anesthesia around 75 %.Clear corneal incisions 30%.Standard IOL is Hydrofoob Acryl (90%). Toric IOL use 4 %.Multifocal IOL use still around 2.5 %.Dropped nucleus and Endophthalmitis rates low. Intracameral use of Cefuroxime (routinely)over 60%.Refractive surgery numbers stable 90% of cataract surgeons enter data in national cataract database.

Conclusions:

valuable information on trends in Dutch Cataract and Refractive Surgery over the last 19 years is presented
