Multifocal lens implantation in patients after previous laser refractive surgery

Abstract Details

Purpose:

To analyze objective and subjective results after presbyopic lens exchange

Setting:

Eye clinics DuoVize Prague

Methods:

Retrospective evaluation of 15 patients, 26 eyes, undergoing presbyopic lens exchange after previous hyperopic or myopic laser correction, LASIK or PRK, operated at our clinics from 6/2015 to 12/2016.6 patients after myopic laser correction, 9 patients after hyperopic laser correction. 2 eyes got RESTOR add+3.0 lens, 16 eyes AT LISA tri Zeiss, and 8 eyes Panoptix Calculating formulas, preoperative and postoperative visual acuity far and near distance, autorefractory , corneal topography and clinical finding were evaluated

Results:

Average postoperative subjective visual acuity SnellenÅ› was 0.82 for far and Jaeger N. 0.82 for near after hyperopic laser, after myopic laser 0.91 for far and 0.78 for near. Postoperative spheric correction was +0.49 D combined with -0.61 cyl D of astigmatismus at patients after previous hyperopic laser correction and -0.43 D and -0.32 cyl D after previous myopic laser correction.

Conclusions:

Although not statistically significant our results show that using combination of more than one calculating formulas and carefull preoperative evaluating can lead to satisfying postoperative results even after hyperopic laser. Poor results show patients with preoperative astigmatism, which can be corrected with refractive laser correction.
