Abstract Details

Purpose:

High miopya and hyperopia combined with presbyopia is a big issue in refractive surgey. We evaluated efficacy of clear lens extraction using a IOL with EDOF technology to solve far and near problem in one step

Setting:

San Bortolo general Hospital, Vicenza, Italy.

Methods:

20 presbyopic patients, 39 eyes, underwent to Clear Lens Extraction(CLE) implanting AMO Sinfony IOL. Age from 48 to 62,Best Corrected Distance Visual Acuity (BCDVA) was 20/20 (range from +7 to -12 diopter) and Best Corrected Near Vision Acuity (BCNVA) was J 1 with age-related presbyopic addition. BCDVA,BCNVA and VF-14 satisfaction test were evaluated al month 1 and 6.

Results:

Mean BCDVA was 20/20 with +/- 0.5 diopter while mean BCNVA was J 1 adding +0.75 diopter; j2 uncorrected fluid reading . 45% complaining halos and glare after one month, 5% after 6 months.

Conclusions:

CLE with EDOF IOL is an efficient solution for presbyopic patients with high refractive error.
