Abstract Details
Purpose:
We used the One-Use Plus microkeratome in combination with anterior chamber pressure system for ultrathin Descemet's stripping automated endothelial keratoplasty lamella preparation, vis-à-vis accuracy, endothelial cell loss and lamellar surface size and regularity
Setting:
Hospital 'Santa Maria delle Croci' of Ravenna Italy
Methods:
Fifteen human corneas were dissected with single-use heads of different size aiming for a posterior lamella thickness less of 100 μm. During the cut the pressure in the anterior chamber was controlled at 200 mmhg
Before preparation and after dissection, endothelial cell and corneal thickness were measured respectively by endothelial microscope analysis and optical coherence tomography
Results:
The system succeeded in UT lamella preparation (85 -100 μm) in 86,6% of cases.
Endothelial cell density decreased after preparation was 5.37% average.
Lamellar surface was regular and the average cut size was 10.5 mm
Conclusions:
The One-Use Plus microkeratome in combination with anterior chamber pressure system is suited for the preparation of UT-DSAEK lamellae
