TERMS AND CONDITIONS

» Once you have submitted your abstract you will be sent an email summary. Please check this to make sure all information is correct. The organisers will not accept any responsibility for abstracts that have not been submitted properly.

» All abstracts MUST be submitted in the presenting author’s name. Any abstract without an assigned presenter may not be considered for review.

» Please create ONE account only.

» Submitters can edit their abstracts up to the deadline by logging back into the Call for Papers section online.

» Abstracts will be considered from Vision Scientists only if they work in an academic department and have an ophthalmologist as a co-author.

» You must use the same email address for submitting an abstract as you will for registering for the meeting in Athens.

» Failure to present without prior notice to the Programme Committee may influence future acceptance of presentations.

» All abstracts will initially be reviewed, graded and accepted or rejected by the Programme Committee. The Committee reserves the right to determine whether a free paper submission is accepted as an oral presentation or a poster. The decision of the Committee is final.

ABSTRACT FORMAT

ALL SUBMITTED FREE PAPER AND ALL POSTER ABSTRACTS MUST BE IN ENGLISH AND FOLLOW THE STRUCTURED FORMAT BELOW:

- Title – max 250 characters
- Purpose – max 100 words
- Setting – max 50 words
- Methods – max 100 words
- Results – max 100 words
- Conclusions – max 100 words
- Financial Disclosure of all authors

ALL SUBMITTED CORNEA DAY ABSTRACTS MUST BE IN ENGLISH AND FOLLOW THE STRUCTURED FORMAT BELOW:

- Title- max 250 characters
- Purpose - max 100 words
- Setting - max 50 words
- Report of case or case series - max 300 words
- Conclusion/ take home message -max 150 words

» The summary of results for Free Papers, Posters and Cornea Day submissions must be given in sufficient detail to support the conclusions. The Programme Committee will only accept abstracts with final results or conclusions.

» References and credits cannot be included as part of an abstract.

» Formulae should, in general, be avoided.

» When using abbreviations or acronyms for the first time, care should be taken to spell them out in full with the abbreviation in parentheses after the full word/s the first time it appears in the text. The abbreviation should be used alone thereafter.

ABSTRACTS MAY BE SUBMITTED FOR THE FOLLOWING PRESENTATION TYPES:

• Free Paper Presentation
• Cornea Day
• Posters
• Presented Posters

Free Papers & Poster Presentations will be considered on the following themes:
• Cataract
• Refractive
• Cornea
• Miscellaneous

Cornea Day Presentations will be considered on the following topics:
• Management of corneal complications after refractive surgery
• Tips and pitfalls in corneal graft surgery: DALK, DSEK, DMEK, PK
• Ocular surface disease: what worked and what did not
• Infectious keratitis

CORNEA DAY PRESENTATIONS

» Only ONE CASE REPORT per presentation is permitted

» On acceptance of a Cornea Day abstract for presentation in Athens, the author will be fully informed of the process for the submission of their presentation. Authors must present their case on a maximum of 5 PowerPoint slides. Each accepted case will be allocated 7 minutes (4 minutes for presentation and 3 minutes discussion).

ELECTRONIC POSTER PRESENTATIONS

» Authors must present their Poster as a maximum of 6 PowerPoint slides. On acceptance of a Poster Abstract for presentation in Athens, the author will be fully informed of the process for the submission and display of their presentation 

» In order to have a poster displayed, all poster authors must be a registered delegated and must attend the Meeting. 

» Prizes will be awarded to the best cataract and refractive poster presentations of the meeting.

NUMBER OF SUBMISSIONS

» Each author may submit a maximum of two Free Papers and Cornea Day abstracts. Only one abstract may be submitted in the poster and presented poster categories. 

» Only one free paper will be accepted per author for oral presentation.  If a second free paper abstract is accepted, it will be considered for possible presentation in the ‘Poster Village’. Authors must be present to defend and discuss their paper.

» Presented Poster authors must be present to defend and discuss their paper. These presentations will be selected from free paper and poster submissions which the scientific Programme Committee feels would be of particular interest to delegates.

TRAINEE MEETING BURSARIES

» A number of bursaries will be awarded to ESCRS trainee members who have a free paper or poster accepted for presentation at the Athens Winter Meeting. Recipients will receive complimentary meeting registration and €750 to cover their travel and hotel expenses. 

» To be considered, trainees should select 'I am an ESCRS trainee member' when filling out the abstract form.

» Bursary recipients will be selected from among the highest scoring accepted free papers and posters. Please note that there will be a limit on how many bursaries are awarded to trainees from the same country.

If you choose to submit an abstract(s) we will use your personal details to keep you updated on its status including whether it has been accepted for presentation at the Winter Meeting concerned. If your abstract(s) is accepted for presentation at the Winter Meeting your contact details (name and email address) will be sent to a third party Audio Visual Company (M Events) in order for them to contact you in relation to uploading your presentation.
