Abstract Details

Purpose:

To present a case of a Posttraumatic iris implatation cyst and its conservative treatment with YAG-Laser.

Setting:

Hospital Oftalmológico Santa Lucía, Ciudad Autonoma de Buenos Aires, Argentina

Methods:

An eighteen year old male patient, complaining about his left eye, with antecedent of penetraiting corneal wound when he was fifteen years old, who came to the hospital with an iris cyst of 8mm x 2,9mm in its biggest size, in contact with corneal endothelium, and loss of vision of the left eye. The best corrected visual acuity was 20/20 in right eye and 20/40 in his left eye. -Visual acuity -Auto Refractometry -Slit lamp examination -Indirect Binocular Ophthalmoscopy -Specular Microscopy -Ultrasonic Bio Microscopy - YAG Laser -Diode laser

Results:

The cyst decreased its size significantly , and the pacient acomplished a visual outcome of 20/20 with glasses. With a follow up of 1 moth reaching the smallest size. The patient come again to the hospital 5 months later with recurrency of the cyst, smaller than the first time.

Conclusions:

The conservative treatment can be an option in this type of cases , acomplishing a good visual outcome without the need of intraocular surgery, despite of the recurrency of the cyst the laser treatment is a non invasive option that can be repeated ,explaining the positive things and complications to the patient.
