Abstract Details

Purpose:

To evaluate the long-term clinical and functional results of myopia correction in patients with amblyopia using the Femto-LASIK method using CustomQ ablation method (F-CAT).

Setting:

National Ophthalmology Center named after acad. Z.Aliyeva, Azerbaijan.

Methods:

Femto-Lasik surgery were performed on 43 eyes(31 patients)in patients with myopia and amblyopia. All operations were performed on excimer laser ophthalmic unit WaveLight-EX500 and femtosecond laser WaveLight-FS200.All patients underwent a standard pre-and post-operative examinations.During the surgery the corneal flap was formed with a femtolaser WaveLight-FS200.The thickness of the flap in all patients was 110 microns.Corneal flap diameter-9.00mm.Cutting angle of the flap-70 degrees.Position of the flap hinge-supperior.Next corneal stroma was ablated by CustomQ(F-CAT) method by eximer laser. In planning the operation zone of ablation in all patients was 6.5mm.Residual stromal thickness was on average 307±8.3 mm.

Results:

In all cases at the preoperative examinations were: sferoequialent of refraction ranged from -6.50 to -13.25 diopters(D), a cylindrik component -1.75±0.75; visual acuity with correction 0.4±0.2; pachymetry 563±21.7 microns. All patients underwent a complete postoperative follow-up at 1,6,12,24 and 36 months. 3 year after the surgery, were observed the following results: visual acuity with correction 0.5±0.2; sferoequialent of refraction -0.75±0.25; a cylindrik component 0.75±0.15; thickness of the flap 107±6.5 microns; the thickness of residual stroma 310±5.8 microns. On the remaining 35 (81.39%) eyes achieved the target refraction.Postoperative refraction remained unchanged throughout the observation period in all patients.

Conclusions:

The studies have shown that the use of the technique Femto - Lasik together with the method of ablation CustomQ (F-CAT), is the best technology in the keratorefractive surgery, and allow to obtain better results in the treatment of correction of myopia in patients with amblyopia. All the studied parameters remained stable throughout the all period of observation.
