Abstract Details

Purpose:

To compare the results of WaveLight® Contoura Vision Topo guided Lasik versus Wavefront Optimized Lasik

Setting:

National Ophthalmological Center named after the Academician Zarifa Aliyeva

Methods:

Prospective study. 38 eyes of 20 patients (18 bilateral and 2 unilateral) underwent Contoura Vision Femtosecond Lasik (Group 1). 50 eyes of 26 patients (24 bilateral and 2 unilateral) underwent Wavefront Optimized Lasik (Group 2). All patients underwent Refraction, Pentacam, Topolyser, Contrast, Stereopsis evaluation preoperatively. Flaps were created with the FS200 Femtosecond laser. At one month post op all patients underwent Vision, Refraction, Pentacam, Topolyser, Contrast and Stereopsis.

Results:

Mean age was 25 years in Group 1 and 2 respectively. The mean tissue ablation per dioptre was 16.61+/-3.78 microns in Group1 and 16.78+/-3.15 microns in Group 2. Post op UCVA Was 20/20 or better in 94 % of the eyes in Group 1 and 84 % of the eyes in Group 2. The post op mean contrast was 0.09 logmar in Group 1 and 0.17 logmar in Group 2. The post op Stereopsis was 60 arc length or better in 75% of the eyes in Group 1 and 70% of the eyes in Group 2

Conclusions:

Contoura Vision Lasik fared better in terms of post-op UCVA, Contrast and Stereopsis when compared to wavefront optimised Lasik There was no difference in the amount of tissue ablation per dioptre in both the techniques.
