Abstract Details

Purpose:

Optical Biometry is not present in every Ophthalmology clinic in Jakarta but ultrasound biometry. This study was performed to know the predictive error of Barret Universal II (BU II) using ultrasound biometry parameters

Setting:

single center in private clinic. All the patient was underwent phacoemulsification surgery without complication and used the IOL power based on ultrasound biometry in JEC Clinic included in this study. All the biometry were examined by trained nurses

Methods:

This is a retrospective study that examine the absolute error of ultrasound biometry using the Barret Universal II. We include axial length (AL), anterior chamber Depth (ACD), K value, target refractive using BU II and spherical error after surgery.

Results:

The absolute mean biometry prediction error in spherical equivalent was 0.34 diopters. A biometry prediction error within ±0.25 D, ±0.50 D, and ±1.00 D are 43%, 86%, and 92% subject respectively

Conclusions:

IOL power calculation using BU II based on ultrasound Biometry give a good results refractive error after surgery
