Abstract Details

Purpose:

Confer if there is any divergence amongst the biometric results of three devices available for preoperative evaluation of the facectomy

Setting:

Médicos de Olhos S.A.

Methods:

At the observational cross-sectional studies, in which 49 patients underwent optical biometrics examination in three different equipments (Galilei G6, Lenstar and AL Scan) between January 2019 and March 2019 attended at a Reference Eye Clinic at Curitiba, Brazil. Parameters as Keratometry, axial length and anterior chamber depth was compared.

Results:

Comparing simultaneously the three devices, the study confirms that there is significant difference solely between keratometry, axial length and anterior chamber depth. However, when the equipment was analyzed two by two, it showed agreement in the axial lenght between Lenstar and Nidek AL Scan.

Conclusions:

The values found allow us to conclude that there is a significant difference between the three devices, but no results from the present study allow us to conclude that there is a device superior to the others. In order to clinically analyze such disagreements further studies are needed.
