Abstract Details
Purpose:
We report the case of a 56-year-old patient with a history of glaucoma under treatment for 20 years, who consulted in the ophthalmic emergency room for right eye trauma.
Setting:
The ophthalmologic examination revealed in the traumatized eye visual acuity reduced to light perception, a diffuse subconjunctival hemorrhage, a corneal wound ranging from 1 to 4 hours on the limbus in the manner of an extracapsular cataract extraction.
Methods:
The anterior chamber was the site of grade 4 hyphema and the fundus was inaccessible. On examination of the upper conjunctival sac, the lens was found, adhering to the bulbar conjunctiva. (Fig. 1)
Results:
We washed the hyphema and the corneal wound has been sutured.
Conclusions:
Open-globe eye trauma is a real public health problem due to its frequency and severity. Indeed, they expose to serious complications, very often responsible for a severe visual impairment.
