Abstract Details
Purpose:
The correction of presbyopia with different IOL is a rising refractive strategy in patients with cataracts and the wish to be independent from glasses after surgery. Different retreatment options and their clinical advantages and disadvantages are demonstrated and discussed.
Setting:
All surgeries were performed by one surgeon at the Breyer-Kaymak-Klabe Eye Surgery and Premium Eyes in Duesseldorf, Germany, member of the International Vision Correction Research Center (IVCRC.net).
Methods:
The variety of clinically available presbyopia correcting IOL and their retreatment options have been searched in literature and are listed here.
Results:
Different presbyopia correcting IOL strategies require different retreatment strategies and surgical equipment with inherent surgical and clinical consequences for surgeons and patients.
Conclusions:
Consulting patients and planning surgical scenarios in IOL based correction of presbyopia should be foreseen individually regarding retreatment options.
