Abstract Details

Purpose:

Despite the fact that nearly every patient would like to see without glasses after IOL surgery only 1-5 % of implanted IOL are MIOL or EDOF IOL. Furthermore, MIOL are responsible for most IOL explanations. The author wants to share his real-life experiences to maybe improve the MIOL / EDOF IOL implantation rate and patient contentedness.

Setting:

All surgeries were performed by one surgeon at the Breyer-Kaymak-Klabe Eye Surgery and Premium Eyes in Duesseldorf, Germany, member of the International Vision Correction Research Center (IVCRC.net).

Methods:

The author is implanting MIOL and EDOF IOL in most of his patients over ten years and constantly tried to improve his patients contentedness rate by readjusting his MIOL management according to newest studies and clinical experiences in corridor talks with other scientists and surgeons resulting in a quality management guided formula he calls the miLens Formula. It consists of 10 rules.

Results:

The 10 rules of the miLens Formula will be presented. We did not have to explant a single MIOL / EDOF IOL in the last ten years.

Conclusions:

The author follows the miLens Formula rules in his quality management system in the implantation of IOL correcting presbyopia and hopes to raise a vivid discussion presenting the miLens Formula.
