Abstract Details

Purpose:

to describe a case of large iris cyst eroding through a cornea and how it was managed.

Setting:

king Hussein medical centre Jordan

Report of case or case series:

to report a case of a large 5 by 5mm iris cyst secondary to herpetic infection eroding through the cornea. the patient had a history of herpetic keratitis. suddenly presents with a large anterior bulge covering the whole cornea. management included excision and penetrating keratoplasty after the surprise discovery of a cyst coming out trhough corneal perforation. largest cyst to be reported. mechanism of cyst formation will be explained.

Conclusions/Take Home Message:

though examination of any anterior segment case and good history taking can give a clue about the pathology, systemic approach to any problem even if rare guarantees best outcome measures.
