Abstract Details

Purpose:

To compare visual functions and stability after Implantable collamer lens implantation and Customized laser In Situ keratomileusis for moderate to high myopia.

Setting:

: Anand Hospital and eye centre, Jaipur, India

Methods:

Single centric prospective study. We investigated 40 eyes of 25 patients undergoing ICL implantation and 40 eyes of 25 patients undergoing C-LASIK for the correction of moderate to high myopia (manifest spherical equivalent - 6 to -14 diopters). Subjective and objective measures, contrast sensitivity (CS) function and complications were measured over a period of 1 year. Outcome measures also included safety, efficacy and predictability of the procedure. Data analysed using SPSS, anova, t test.

Results:

UCVA in both group in high refractive error was equal in initial 3 month (p>0.05), whereas contrast sensitivity was better in ICL group (p
Conclusions:

ICL implantation significantly improves contrast sensitivity and more stable and accurate refractive results and better patient satisfaction in moderate to high myopia group than LASIK.
