Abstract Details

Purpose:

To give an opinion on the Alcon Cachet.

Setting:

: Cataract Clinic Neupré , Liège ,Belgium professeur.galand@gmail.com

Methods:

Review of films and charts of 19 Cachet implantations. Only 7 eyes have a one-year follow-up.

Results:

. Insertion of this implant is a straightforward procedure. . In the cartridge, symmetrical bending of the optic is crucial : in 2 cases,an imperfect loading resulted in upside-down unfolding. Removal and replacement, without enlarging the incision, was atraumatic. In all cases, postoperative uveal reaction was minimal or absent. . So far, there is no concern with the endothelial cell counts.

Conclusions:

No need for iridectomy,no need for suture, easy implantation and easy removal are key features to claim that Cachet can be the most reversible surgery to correct myopia. Specular microscopy must be performed each 6 months.
