Abstract Details

Purpose:

To assess anterior chamber depth, iridocorneal angle width, and intraocular pressure changes in patients with open angle glaucoma after viscocanaloplasty procedure performed in the Department of Ophthalmology Medical University of Warsaw.

Setting:

: Department of Ophthalmology Medical University of Warsaw, Warsaw, Poland Head: prof. Jerzy Szaflik, MD, PhD

Methods:

Total number of 14 patients (14 eyes) age from 35 to 78 years (mean 64 years) with medically uncontrolled open angle glaucoma and no history of previous glaucoma surgery were enrolled to study. Following parameters were evaluated: anterior chamber depth, iridocorneal angle width (ASOCT), and intraocular pressure. The data were obtained preoperatively and one day, and one month postoperatively.

Results:

The measurements (mean value) were as following: anterior chamber depth (2,71mm, 2.74mm, 2.81mm), iridocorneal angle width (26,5°,30,9°,31,3°), and intraocular pressure (23,2mmHg, 15,9mmHg, 14,2mmHg) obtained preoperatively, one day and one month, postoperatively respectively. The following changes in anterior chamber depth, iridocorneal angle width, and intraocular pressure were observed in the follow-up period respectively (+0,1mm; -4,8°; -9mmHg).

Conclusions:

Viscocanaloplasty is a new minimally invasive glaucoma surgery. After that procedure increase of the anterior chamber depth and extension of iridocorneal angle were observed. The IOP achieved after viscocanaloplasty was stable during follow-up period. ASOCT is an useful procedure to monitor anatomic changes in anterior segment after viscocanaloplasty .
