Abstract Details

Purpose:

To assess anatomic changes at the intrascleral lake site in patients with open angle glaucoma after viscocanaloplasty procedure performed in the Department of Ophthalmology Medical University of Warsaw.

Setting:

: Department of Ophthalmology Medical University of Warsaw, Warsaw, Poland Head: prof. Jerzy Szaflik, MD, PhD

Methods:

Total number of 14 patients (14 eyes) age from 35 to 78 years (mean 64 years) with medically uncontrolled open angle glaucoma and no history of surgery were enrolled to study. Following ultrasound biomicroscopic parameters were evaluated: size in three dimensions on first postoperative day, one month and three months postoperatively and changes during follow- up period.

Results:

The intrascleral lake dimensions (mean value) were as following: in horizontal dimension (1,32mm, 1.32mm, 1.31mm), in vertical dimension (0,45mm 0,44mm, 0,43mm), and in meridian dimension (2,12mm, 2,07mm, 2,05mm) obtained one day, one month, three months postoperatively respectively The following changes in horizontal, vertical and meridian dimension were observed respectively(0,01mm;0,02mm;0,07mm) .

Conclusions:

Intrascleral lake created during viscocanaloplasty was stable structure during three months follow-up period. No other anatomical changes were odserved. Ultrasound biomicroscopy is an useful procedure to monitor anatomic changes at intrascleral lake site after viscocanaloplasty .
