Purpose:
To demonstrate the safety of soft tip I/A during cataract surgery.
Setting:
: A UK NHS Teaching Hospital.
Methods:
Videos will be shown demonstrating how it is possible to perform safe I/A with a soft tip instrument. It is possible to grab the anterior or posterior capsule safely without causing a tear.
Results:
In the last 2 years, soft tip I/A has greatly reduced the incidence of PC tear during cataract surgery.
Conclusions:
Soft tip I/A is much safer than previous instruments and makes the I/A procedure less likely to produce a capsule tear.
