Purpose:
Evaluate functional results after two years following bilateral M-flex, ReSTOR and TECNIS multifocal intraocular lense implantation.

Methods:
Patients with age-related cataract who had potential visual acuity of 0.3 LogMar or better on clinical assessment were involved. Phacoemulsification through clear corneal incision was completed and multifocal IOL was implanted. We enrolled 43 patients into this study. Patients were assigned to three different groups: bilateral implantation with M-flex (n=24), bilateral implantation with ReSTOR (n=7), bilateral implantation with TECNIS (n=12). Follow up continued up to two years. ETDRS visual acuity, keratometry and biomicroscopy were evaluated. Questionnaire about the visual side eeffects and satisfaction was filled.
Results:
All groups showed good uncorrected distance and near visual acuity (logMAR). M-flex group UCDVA= -0.02 (-0.22 to 0.28), UCNVA= 0.24 (-0.04 to 0.64). ReSTOR group UCDVA= 0.04 (-0.08 to 0.16), UCNVA= 0.22 (0.00 to 0.50). TECNIS group UCDVA= -0.02 (-0.04 to 0.60), UCNVA= 0.20 (0.0 to 0.60). PCO was detected in M-flex group (6 eyes, 3 patients) and YAG laser capsulotomy was performed. Patients complained about halo around lights at night time: n=11 (M-flex group), n=1 (ReSTOR group) and n=4 (TECNIS group). All patients were satisfied with achieved result.
Conclusions:
M-flex, ReSTOR and TECNIS multifocal IOLs provided good refractive results two years after implantation. Comparing the 3 groups, no significant differences were found for distance and near visual acuity. All patients were satisfied with the visual outcome subjectively.
