Purpose:
To evaluate injection predictability and visual performance of the PALâ„¢ aspheric design for the Aaren EC-1 HPI intraocular lens using a new pre-loaded delivery system to allow 2.4mm inciaion IOL implantation
Setting:
: C.M.A. Centro di Microchirurgia Ambulatoriale
Methods:
Cataract removal via phacoemulsification followed by insertion of the EC-3 hydrophobic acrylic three-piece IOL through a 3.2 mm incision. Follow-up examinations occur at 1-2 days, 1 week, 1 month, 6 months.Follow-up evaluations include uncorrected and best corrected visual acuity (BCVA), slit-lamp examination, an assessment of lens positioning and transparency (absences of vacuoles)
Results:
We performed cataract surgery and Aaren EC-1 HPI lens implantation in twenty eyes.
Preoperative BCVA was 0.70 and 0.96 one month after surgey.
Preoperative SE was 0.84 D and -0.15 at one month
Conclusions:
The EC-3 is a new hydrophobic acrylic IOL. We have demonstrated excellent visual acuity outcomes, low complication rates, and no glistenings. 2.4 incision size allows 100% of the implantations. No complication pre-loaded delivery system related occurred
