Purpose:
This study aims to measure central corneal thickness using optical coherence tomography (RTVue CAM AS-OCT) and ultrasound pachymeter (Ocuscan RxP). It also determines the degree of correlation and the agreement between the two methods.
Setting:

Methods:
In this study were enrolled 52 eyes of 26 subjects (mean age 65 ± 14). All subjects had comprehensive clinical examination including contact ultrasound pachymetry (Ocuscan RxP) and optical pachymetry performed with optical coherence tomograph (RTVue CAM AS-OCT). The statistical analysis of the results from the two methods was made with SPSS 16.0.
Results:
There is a strong statistically significant positive correlation (correlation coefficient of Pearson r = 0.91, p<0.01) between the values of central corneal thickness measured by optical coherence tomography (RTVue CAM AS-OCT) and ultrasound pachymeter (Ocuscan RxP) in patients with primary open-angle glaucoma. Bland-Altman analysis found that the agreement of measurements between the two methods is not high enough. The value of central corneal thickness measured by optical coherence tomograph is significantly greater than this with ultrasound pachymetrer by 15.14 ± 16.4 μm.
Conclusions:
There is a reproducible difference between central corneal thickness measured by optical coherence tomography (RTVue CAM AS-OCT) and ultrasound pachymeter (Ocuscan RxP) in the examined subjects. In terms of clinical practice is important to know that the results obtained from the measurement of central corneal thickness with two different methods are not interchangeable.
