The corneal buttons were analyzed for the presence of histological characteristics and vascularization of epithelium, the presence or not of Bowman’s layer, the thickness of stroma and Descemet and endothelium alterations layer.

Results:

We found alterations in epithelium and stroma of all the patients. Although this lost of architecture was not seen in Descemet and endothelial population.

Conclusions:

Patients with advanced congenital aniridic keratopathy may be good candidate for Deep Aterior Lmellar Krathoplasty (DALK) for the preservation of normal endothelium and descemet membrane. FINANCIAL INTEREST: NONE
