Abstract Details
Purpose:
to compare the effect of phacoemulsuificiation on intraocular pressure values in patients with XFG.
Setting:
Department of glaucoma, Clinic of ophthalmology, Clinical centre Kragujevac, Serbia.
Methods:
Retrospective, comparative study included 78 patients, referred for cataract surgery, which was performed by phacoemulsification. We compared IOP values at the first day (preoperative), after 1m, 3m, and 6m. All data were analyzed statistically using SPSS (version 20).
Results:
We examined 78 patients, divided in two groups- XFG and control groups (n=39 patients). Our results indicated that IOP was lower in XFG group for 21.43% compared with control group one month after the surgery was performed. This decreasing trend was maintained till the end of 6th month with statistically significant lower IOP values in XFG group. The most intensive decreasing was in the first postoperative month in both groups.
Conclusions:
Intraocular pressure was decreased about 20% in all examined patients first month after the surgery. Patients with XFG showed higher decreasing of IOP compared with control group patients.
