Abstract Details
Purpose:
to compare central corneal thickness measurements obtained by Pentacam HR scheimpflug system((Oculus, Weltzar, Germany) and Ultrasound Pachymeter(Tomey SP100) in LASEK refractive surgery candidates
Setting:
Iran,Tehran, Vanak Eye Center
Methods:
In this prospective study ,central corneal thickness of 264 eyes of 132 LASEK candidates were measured with Pentacam HR and ultrasound Ultrasound Pachymeter then results were analyzed with paired T test ,regression analysis and Bland-altman plots.
Results:
The mean central corneal thickness values with Pentacam HR and Ultrasound Pachymeter were 539.87 ± 32.29 and 540±32.67 respectively.there was a significant linear correlation between Pentacam HR and Ultrasound Pachymetry measurements(r=0.95 , p<0.001). the mean difference between Pentacam HR and Ultrasound Pachymeter was not statistically significant(paired t test : p=0.24)
Conclusions:
the central corneal thickness values obtained by these two modalities are highly correlated with together and Pentacam can be alternative to Ultrasound Pachymetry in measuring central corneal thickness
