Purpose:
To report our first results using Yaman`s flanged intrascleral intraocular lens fixation with double-needle technique.

Eye Clinic, Zvezdara Medical University Center, Belgrade, Serbia
Methods:
Case reportIn recent years a lot of new techniques were described for implantation of intraocular lenses (IOL) in eyes with inadequate capsular support. Although suture fixation techniques have advantages over other secondary IOL implantation techniques it has been shown that sutures also can cause complications. To overcome these problems new sutureless procedures and modifications have been developed. Here, we will show our first results using Yaman`s flanged intrascleral intraocular lens fixation with double-needle technique.
Results:
This technique was used for secondary IOL implantation to an aphakic patient with no zonular support. The 58-year-old patient presented with dislocated crystalline lens secondary to contusion trauma. Fundus examination and OCT scan showed also a presence of a macular hole. Phacoemulsification cataract extraction of the luxated crystalline lens was done as a primary surgical treatment. Best corrected visual acuity (BCVA) before IOL implantation was 0.1. In the second surgical act a three-piece IOL was fixated to sclera using sutureless technique described by Yamane. The transconjunctival approach, the small incisions and the creation of a flange for haptics stability are three important things that diferentiate this technique from other scleral IOL fixation techniques. Patient was discharged with BCVA 0.2.
Conclusions:
Although long-term results are still not known, this technique provides a good IOL fixation avoiding the risk of suture related complications.Financial disclosureAuthors declare no financial interest.
